For Railway Group D:

Age Limit: The minimum age limit is 18 years and the maximum age limit is 33 years (as on 1st July of the recruitment year).

Qualifications: Candidates need to have passed 10th standard or ITI from institutions recognized by NCVT/SCVT or equivalent.

 

The exam pattern for Railway Group D job comprises four stages:

 

 

          1.Computer Based Test (CBT) 

    It is a preliminary test of 100 marks, consisting of 100 objective type questions. The test is divided into four sections – Mathematics, General Intelligence and Reasoning, General Science, and General Awareness and Current Affairs. The duration of the exam is 90 minutes. There is negative marking of 1/3 marks for every wrong answer.

          2.Physical Efficiency Test (PET) 

    It is of qualifying nature, meaning that candidates are required to qualify this round, but the marks obtained are not considered in the final merit list. The test consists of lifting and carrying weights and running, and the criteria for passing vary according to gender and category.

          3.Document Verification and Medical Examination 

    Candidates who clear the PET must undergo a document verification process to confirm their eligibility for the job. They must also meet the medical standards set by the Indian Railways.

         4.Final Merit List 

    The final merit list is prepared based on the marks obtained in the CBT, after the deduction of negative marks, and qualifying the PET and medical examination.

Railway NTPC exam pattern

The Railway NTPC exam pattern consists of the following stages:

 

 

           1.Stage I – Computer Based Test (CBT) 1:

 

    This is an objective type exam with 100 questions that need to be answered in 90 minutes. The questions are from General Awareness, Mathematics, and General Intelligence and Reasoning.

 

 

           2.Stage II – Computer Based Test (CBT) 2:

          3.Skill Test/Typing Test:

          4.Document Verification/Medical Test:

 

    The candidates who have qualified the above stages will be called for document verification and medical test.

List of Jobs under Railway ALP: Candidates who clear the Railway ALP exam can get appointed to the following positions:

 

  1. Assistant Loco Pilot (ALP) – responsible for driving and maintaining locomotives and ensuring the safety of passengers.

 

  1. Technician – responsible for maintaining and repairing locomotives and other railway equipment.
